BiD Challenge 2006 - Round 1 Results

The BiD Challenge 2006 received over 1600 plans from 90 countries. 903 plans meet all of the BiD Challenge criteria and have been accepted to participate in Round 1.

Round 1 Results

Over 5000 people registered with the BiD network and are members of the first online community for poverty reduction and entrepreneurship in developing countries.

The BiD Challenge 2006 aims to help 30 entrepreneurs with the start up of a business that contributes to the achievement of the Millennium Development goals in a Developing Country. Between 19 and 90 years old, and from Nicaragua to Nepal, all Round 1 participants of the BiD Challenge 2006 aim to make poverty reduction their business. Round 2 Selection

220 professionals screened the Round 1 business plans. BiD Challenge screeners are mostly employees of BiD Challenge partners such as ING, Nuon, DHV, ICCO and Plan Nederland. To find out more about the BiD Challenge screeners, click here.

Each plan was screened 3 times. All Round 1 participants recieved feedback from the screeners. On the basis of the screeners assessments the Round 1 Jury selected the 74 Round 2 business plans. Click here to read about the BiD Challenge 2006 Round 2 plans.
