Since i decided to devout myself into the arts, it leads me to places i could have not imagined, from the different tribes of hinterland Mindanao, to the tall buildings of metropolis Manila, just to collect voices and stories to bridge each other and reach a place of understanding that existing has to co-exist with one another.
Last year November 2008 we developed a youth social enterprise called Dire Husi Initiative. Dire a cebuano local dialect meaning "here" and Husi a Manobo Tribal word meaning "friend". Composed of marginalized/ street kids and tribal descent youths, the initiative gives hope in honing the innate skills of the artisans as a vehicle to change the direction of hopelessness into a vision of self esteem and pride in their creative capabilities. Incorporating the values of fair trade, the artisans can become entrepreneurs that has clear understanding on social responsibilities.
