Laura Smeets

In January 2005 I completed my Masters degree in International Business at the University of Maastricht. During my study I became interested in other cultures, which resulted in an exchange programme of seven months at the Universidad del Pacífico in Peru from March until October 2003. After finishing my studies I worked for six months as a volunteer for a NGO in Cameroon as a project coordinator for community development projects. From February 2006 I will start with a 1-year Master Programme in International Development Studies to broaden my academic knowledge in the field of development.

Since December 2005 I am working as an intern at Fair Ventures. I work as Communication and Events assistant for the Business in Development Challenge, which I believe is a great opportunity to fight poverty in a structural and efficient way.

After that I went to Sri Lanka, Netherlands, Kenya, Cameroon, Netherlands, Fuerteventura, Tignes, Netherlands, Tanzania. So I am quite everywhere.
