Willem Tijssen

In the first place Willem is a Humanist and “Africanist” with great love for the African continent, its people and rich culture. He is a marketing expert and “event-engineer” from Hilversum in The Netherlands presently residing in Monrovia/Liberia. Over the years, Tijssen has been involved with a truly broad range of marketing projects and activities for a wide variety of commercial clients like Swatch International, Euro Disney, MTV, Sky Channel, Super Channel (NBC), Nike Europe, and Airship Holland (Global Relief Navigator). His never ending ambition to understand (almost)everything about "the world of his clients and employers" drove him to study: - new technologies - airship technology - and the present history of Africa. To communicate and produce efficient and cost effectively, he taught himself how to design and create html Internet Sites, and how to film and edit professional video productions. US-AFRICA & LIBERIAN.ORG are two of the many examples.

After a first trip to West Africa in 1998, Willem specialized himself in trade and business with West Africa. In the last 2 decades he convinced several western companies (from USA, The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Switzerland) to invest in projects in Africa: scrap projects in Guinea and Bissau - iron ore mining projects in Sierra Leone & Liberia – cement import in Liberia – Oil Palm plantation development for BioFuel – Timber concessions. In all projects it is his objective to involve African nationals and encourage, train and coach them to develop skills and expertise to establish self-sustaining businesses like e.g. MADE IN LIBERIA (Flower & Plants – Glass factory – Block Factory) & WOOD PELLETS LIBERIA. On the list of objectives are the realization of;

- R&D medical use of African flora

Since 2000 Willem is special consultant for EMC-TV & GOED GEZIEN; two media companies.
