All people smile in the same language... -

    Brufut Sanctuary the Gambia

As a freelance journalist I went to West-Africa in 1996 to discover the culture of African people and there way of approaching life.
Since that first trip, I started to miss something in my western way of living.
In 2002 I became the owner of a small travel agency in the Netherlands that develops cultural and religious tours to the Middle East and ... parts of Africa. That brought me back to my roots...
In 2004 i signed a partner contract with ARCH Tours in the Gambia. Last year I supported Abdul Conteh, the manager and chief guide of ARCH Tours. He joined the Bid Challenge and made a good business plan. We ended in the Round 2 Finals. ( check the list nr. 55 or the paper book of Bid Challenge)
This year ARCH tours is chosen by the Gambian Tourism Authority as "the best organised and guided tour organisation in the Gambia". This small company is still trying to manage on its own, but needs more support and promotion to make it successful.
I visit West Africa regularly to develop new trips and visit/check local lodges and places up there. This year I am going to settle in the Gambia for a longer period and start the office of Kauri Travel.
From there all the collected and well chosen West African travel programs and small structures can be promoted and sold to the world.
I want to bring out the best I have to offer Kauri Travel & Develop in its endeavours to bring more wealth and health to West Africa. By promoting small structures and small tour companies from many West African countries to the whole wide world of travel agencies, organisations, companies and travellers who book there own tailor made programs. They will choose Kauri Travel & Develop because they share our intention to give the poorest countries on earth a better future.
