I hope to see Sierra Leone mature in its agricultural outputs. Our pineapple and tree farm in Port Loko district is one of many initiatives, that may contribute to this vision.
My prime interest is to develop a model that will reduce poverty through stimulating private sector initiatives always taking into account long term community interests.
To pursue my main interests I founded an organisation called "Kakua Educative Tree Seed Orchard" (KETSO). KETSO is a private sector initiative that aims at achieving economic sustainability through commercial agricultural activities without loosing sight of community interests and needs. The main aim is the development of an orchard that consists of trees that can be used for timber, medicine, fruit and firewood. In order to generate short-term income, a seed bank consisting of rice, ginger and funde have been developed.
KETSO has purchase 40 acres of land and planted more than 7000 trees (in 2003 - 2006)
At present collaboration with businesses in the Netherlands is sought to increase the overall quality and impact of the work.
