BiD Network - Country Research Coordinator
Since mid-2007, I have been working for BiD Network on various research projects aimed at increasing equity finance for SMEs in developing countries. I am currently working together with some of our partner organisations to produce country-specific investment guides. These guides are aimed at investors who want to invest between USD 50,000 and USD 2 million in developing country SMEs. The first guide in the series, on Uganda, is already available via: www.bidnetwork.org/countryguides
Before BiD, I worked as a country risk analyst at ING Bank in the Netherlands, where I specialized in Latin American and Eastern European markets. In most of these markets, formal banking services do not reach small and medium sized enterprises, with the result that many good business opportunities are not able to materialise. I firmly believe that initiatives like the BiD network have the ability to address part of the problem, by attracting financing to the strongest investment opportunities present in the SME sector.
Areas of interest: Banking, Agriculture, Fair Trade and Corporate Responsibility. I speak English, Spanish and Dutch.
I'm very excited to be part of the BiD Network, and find it a fantastic initiative!
