Martijn Dekker
Martijn Dekker studied social anthropology at the Vrije Universiteit (VU) in Amsterdam and has conducted research on non-violent resistance and community development on the Palestinian West Bank. Currently he is doing his PhD research on civilian initiatives in war situations, i.e. human security from below. His research interests include the formation of self-organised security zones, the (re-)emergence of social boundaries in times of conflict, and the interface between a local population and foreign troops.
