Santhosh Ramdoss

Santhosh intends to effectively address poverty and unemployment in rural India through his Social Enterprise called ProGreen. His inspiration for Social Entrepreneurship stems from his childhood experiences of growing up in a village, with his single mother, who was a social worker. As he grew up, his interests were further molded when he saw that the rapid economic growth in India is largely restricted to urban areas and there is a growing disparity between urban and rural India. During his MBA, Santhosh realized that the solution was to develop economic opportunities in rural India that are driven by business fundamentals. Together with his classmates, Santhosh developed the ProGreen social enterprise plan, which won International acclaim. Today, ProGreen is setting up a pilot unit in a village in Southern India. Meantime, Santhosh aims to better understand the field of development, interact with successful social entrepreneurs before setting out to empower the rural poor in India through ProGreen.
