the sudan red sea camp resort is the first eco camp resort established on the red sea coast of sudan. its owned by the dekock for tourism and investment company ltd. in sudan and financed by the dekock for tourism and investment bv in the Netherlands. it offered accommodation and relaxation in a natural environement surrounded by sea and mountains. comprised of 10 tents fully furnished, 8 showers and toilets. restaurant and a diving center.

The Business

What is your product/service?

we offer accommodation for 20 persons. excursions for diving and snorkeling. an inner and outside terrace restaurant that offers middle eastern, sudanese and europen cuisine. restaurant caters for buffets for companies. if the workshop hall is accomplished it will add more revenue by offering functions for companies, management institutes and government.

What customer need/problem do your products/services satisfy?

i dont understand the question? we satisfy the local populations from port sudan town. major clients are the expat community from the captial khartoum. embasies, ngos, un.

How will you make the product/service?

i dont understand the question? but its managed and catered locally.

Explain how you will sell your product/service (marketing strategy) and how you will reach your customers (distribution strategy)?

website in various languages plays a big role in reaching different customers. a good well developed marketing plan including offices and attractive material from brochures and posters for distribution. attending of exhibitions related to the field that we are in.

To whom are you selling, what is your market?

i am selling to the local community of sudan, the neighbouring countries till south africa and europe, usa and australia.

Describe your competitors?

they have been in the liveaboards business for the last 30 years. Thus they are well established with tour operators abroad.

What makes your business different/better than your competitors (competitive advantage)?

its the first land based eco camp lodge. its way ahead from the coming competition in the future from abroad. close to the capital port sudan. within close reach to everyone who wants to dive and enjoy nature.

What makes your business, your product or service innovative?

i am the first lady pioneer. the first lady on the red sea so far not even in egypt a woman has started an eco camp resort!

How will you ensure the growth of your business?

i have done it so far with pure dedication and thats what i intend to do. used alot of my own personal resources to keep it going.

Describe the entrepreneur & management

i am a sudanese dutch lady. who started her own dream and hopes to see it growing and developing. establishing eco tourism for the sudan and helping in exposing the red sea and conserving as much as possible. i choose my team carefully from talented young people and train them on the quality and way of our work. i employ the underprivlidged local village people to better their life.

What specifically makes you and (if relevant) your management team most qualified to build this business?

i have proved to have the guts and stamina. i am a graudate of a commercial school. but learned alot from my own work. i know the country, the mentality, the drive and make people see what they can achieve and get themselves somewhere. the team needs the work and finds recognition in what they are doing. mostly graduates who need a job. the local villagers need to live!

How much time do/will you expect to spend per week in the business?

i spend 3 months (one go) away from my family to run the business. I take a short break in NL. I work daily from 6:30 in the moring till 6:30 in the evening. 7 days a week. and if needed longer hours.

Development

How does your business improve the local living standards (social and environmental)?

it shows and gives a message on a new vision and creativity. inspired alot of people and they started looking for land to start. investors brought to look at what has been done. recognised by the local government. gives employment to skilled and unskilled people.
