The Business

What is your product/service?

With UbiqCar individuals can localize their cars on real time, either by calling a support line or by consulting its position via web, and in case of robbery remotely and safely turn its car off. With UbiqCargo besides localization businesses can monitor their vehicules' speed, temperature and gas levels, program fences and alarms, receive notifications vía sms, and more, plus self administer and monitor its services via web.

What customer need/problem do your products/services satisfy?

UbiqCar satisfies individuals’ safety need in a hostile environment daily exposed to theft. UbiCargo satisfies business asset control needs plus resource usage optimization and therefore business profitability.

How will you make the product/service?

We will partner with top platform and equipment manufacturers and with other service providers like a 24x7 call center and car mechanics. We will offer competitive salaries in order to hire top talent; have an adequate facility the right infrastructure and establish clear and repeatable commercial and technical processes estandarization. We will outsource operational tasks, like CPE’s installation and offer self administered services as possible

Explain how you will sell your product/service (marketing strategy) and how you will reach your customers (distribution strategy)?

For the mass market we will use a well located billboard and some radio commercials, we also plan to reach them through their insurance companies signing with the later commercial agreements and through their human resources department offering our services as company’s benefits. To reach the businesses we plan direct marketing reaching out people we already know and probably offering a try and buy solution. A well design website is also planed.

To whom are you selling, what is your market?

To young and mid age adults who worry about safety, to company’s logistic managers who need to transport their products on time, on budget, securely and under certain transportation conditions, to insurance companies that will benefit from an increasing recovery rate and potentially to Lima’s transport ministry since its interested in controlling busses’ routes and stops.

Describe your competitors?

These services are just starting so well known Ecuadorian companies like Hunter are just establishing. The good thing about this is that these companies are investing marketing dollars in promoting their services and we plan to take advantage of it. In Ecuador Hunter has around 10,000 subscribers and national presence; nevertheless their service installation price is 50% above our planned fee and their service fee is 10% above ours.

What makes your business different/better than your competitors (competitive advantage)?

Incredible cost/benefit ratio (offer more services for less price) excellence in quality of service and the option of self administration.

What makes your business, your product or service innovative?

Our services are innovative since they have not been locally offered before. Innovation in our service offering will come from the creation of tailored service bundles and the introduction of new functionalities; plus innovative ways of subscribing, paying or financing our services and administering them. Our idea is to always facilitate our customer’s life by providing him or her with e-communication tools.

How will you ensure the growth of your business?

The Entrepreneur & Management

Describe the entrepreneur & management

The entrepreneurial team is comprised by 3 businessman/women/engineers from different backgrounds (an Ecuadorian and Peruvian male, and a Venezuelan female) all with good managerial and telecommunications experience. Two out of 3 have a MBA as part of their curriculum. The Peruvian male has also good business contacts in Perú and has worked for both of the biggest Peruvian telecommunications providers Claro and Telefónica.

What specifically makes you and (if relevant) your management team most qualified to build this business?

Summing our team’s strengths we have managerial, technical and entrepreneurial experience, regional industry contacts and business acumen. Plus a minimum startup capital.

How much time do/will you expect to spend per week in the business?

We plan to spend no less than 60 hours a week during the firts months of operation.

Development

How does your business improve the local living standards (social and environmental)?

Local living standards will be improved by having less people stressed about carjacking and the creation of new employment plazas. Additionally, competition will reduce the services’ costs and promote excellence in service initiative that should be imitated by others.
