The Business

What is your product/service?

Supply the country with healthy protein food in terms of whole chickens and commercial eggs.

Day old chicks sales will build capacity of our farm to be able to satisfy the market as well as individual as skill transfer strategy.

Supply of chikcen feed for quality control. Skill transfer beneficiaries to be supplied quality chicken feed.

Manure supplies would conserve environment.

Value addition as future strategy for exports.

What customer need/problem do your products/services satisfy?

Improve nutritional status, create employment, skill transfer, environmental conservation.

How will you make the product/service?

We will raise the chickens organically in our acquired farms using free range rearing with subsidized chicken feed and vegetables.

Explain how you will sell your product/service (marketing strategy) and how you will reach your customers (distribution strategy)?

We will sell our products namely day old chicks, Eggs and chicken meat to our customers.
Marketing will be done through:-
1. Adverts in TV, News Papers, brochures.
2. Recruit agents in the cities who shall be tied up with minimum monthly sales' targets.
3. Create bonus schemes & discounts for retaining retailers and agents.
4. Conduct quarterly success meetings where top performing customers/agents shall be rewarded.

To whom are you selling, what is your market?

1. Eggs & Chicken Meat - sold to Tourist Hotels, Restaurants, Bars and Agents. Min weekly demand of 10,000kg meat & 100,000 eggs.

2. Day old chicks - sold to farmers and identified customers for skills transfer. A monthly consumption of 30,000. Some
shall also be sold to our company for capacity building.

4. Chicken feed shall be sold to the farmers and the identified customers.
A minimum consumption of 375 metric tonnes per month.

Describe your competitors?

Currently there is no strong commercial competitor for Organic chickens in Tanzania.
Other chicken companies are doing the convertional type of chickens.

What makes your business different/better than your competitors (competitive advantage)?

Organic Chickens are highly demanded by almost all Tanzanians and residents in consideration of nutritional and healthy hazards which emanate from the convertional type, giving us a competitive advantage.

What makes your business, your product or service innovative?

Certification of our products, quality labels,packing,delivery mechanism will make our products likeable.

Legal protection of the copyright of our products will be undertaken.

Technical staff will need to design and meet yearly targets through designed system and staff motivation.

Team work and cooperation between all categories of staff will be maintained by trainings

How will you ensure the growth of your business?

Create a bonus & discount system to retain customers

Recruit company ambassadors to advocate company products

Establish other different farms managed by qualified management

Invite equity investors in the area of poultry farming as well as chicken processing for expansion purposes.

The Entrepreneur & Management

Describe the entrepreneur & management

The MD is an entrepreneur, has 15yrs administrative experience with UN Organization and has been undertaking various poultry trainings.

The Financial Director is an entrepreneur, has a 10yrs of banking experience with an international bank in Tanzania. Has designed several succesfull marketing schemes for many companies in Tanzania.

A part time Public Certified Accountant.

Two Technicians, one veterinary doctor, 12 farm attendants.

What specifically makes you and (if relevant) your management team most qualified to build this business?

We have a common passion for this business in order to combat the health hazards caused by the consumption of convertional chicken in our society. We do commit our time and financial resources into this business to ensure a sustaible success.

How much time do/will you expect to spend per week in the business?

The entire management team and the employees will work on full-time basis.
With an exception of the Veterinary Doctor, the Accountant and the hatching technician.

Development

How does your business improve the local living standards (social and environmental)?

- Organic farming will promote the environmental protection.
- Improve the quality of nutrition status of consumers.
- Direct and Indirect job creation for individuals
- The Company will pay taxes which add to national income.
- Create a training facility for possible skill transfer.
