Dispositivos de Nitinol para Medicina
Production of nitinol devices for health care in cardiological and dentistry fields. Product: wire knit stents, orthodontic wire.
Nickel-Titanium alloys (Superelastic and Shape memory Nitinol), in known to have great biocompatibility and is gaining rapid market share in medical devices.
The main products are:
Wire knit stents and pukmonary emboly filters. Products are manufactured from Nitinol wire, and then thermoset to achieve a propper behavior.
Business model is based on buying the Nitinol wire, process it to shape it into a stent and sellit to a retail medical company

The Business
Medical biopsy devices
Guidewires for catheterism
Orthodontic Wire
CHD Stent
Rectal Stent (wire knit)
Oesophageal Stent (wire knit)
Biliary Stent (wire knit)
Pancreatic Stent (wire knit)
There is potential to also make also pulmonary and artrial filters for clots.
Argentina doesn't have local production in this field.
We will make this health components much more accesible to the general public. In addition to that, because of this, all medical designs would be feasible.
The wire is bought in the international market. The material is then brought to the country.
In our facilities (National Nuclear Comission) we shape de material to have a stent like form via a process of thermo mecanical deformation.
The stent is then set to is final shape during a thermal treatment.
All machinery needed is currently working and ready to be used.
Final treatment consist of a gamma ray sterilization.
We have already talked to several companies that today import this product and they all seemed very interested to diversify their providers.
To retail companies of these products.
Sales are also possible to major state hospitals in argentina or Latin america.
We have a first buyer, the general state hospital of San Juan in Argentina.
Total market for these products is around 16 million American dollars in Latin America.
Our competitors in present day in our market are the importers of these products.
They sell to the same retail companies we want to sell to.
But they don´t work with big hospitals so we have a scaling advantage.
There are over 100 importers of these products so market share is well distributed throughout the country.
Our copmetitive advantage is that we only need to import the wire feedstock from out of country.
We make the hole product and hence availability is assured, wich is the main unsolved issue in Latin America
Our designs are not currently in market. We have complete control over the properties of the material and we have the possibility to make taylored solutions for our clients.
There are no producers of these products in Latin America. We will be the first.
The project has as much scale as needed. The line of production can be duplicated if more production is needed, whereas fixed cost does not grow becouse the space and man power needed is minimun per increment in production.
The facilities we use today are the same we will use during production and the production limit is well above the sales plan.
The Entrepreneur & Management
We are four partners, a Electronic Engineer, two Materials Science Engineers and a Industrial Sales Engineer. I am an Advanced materials engineer. We all have trained for a year in our Entrepreneur habilities.
We also have experience in R&D fields of two or more years. We find ourselves comfortable talking both, business and researchers languages.
I have a deep interest in material science businesses, I've traind in management and I have all the tecnical knoledge to talk both to the science world and to de business world.
I'm a great team leader and I have a strong commitment with these project and the social responsibility it takes.
We think this would consume something around 30 hours per week between sales, managemetn and production activities
Development
People can't get the prosthesis thy need becouse today it is really expensive for them and for the government to make hole sales count.
We think that with better prices and contribution to public hospitals cardiological and general stenting practice will improve and more people will have access to it. Reduction of price and contracts with the government will lower the restrictions to general public to access this medical technology.
