Update BiD Challenge winner 2007
After winning €5000 in the BiD Challenge International 2007, progress is promising for start-up company South Sea Exlusive. Its achievement in the BiD Challenge and the recognition the company received from the BiD Challenge jury gained a lot of confidence. Much sooner than expected, the company is working hard to get the first production done in the coming months.
The company is currently signing several MoU's with local government agencies in the Philippines regarding the development of sustainable aquaculture in several provinces.
South Sea Exclusive is an aquaculture company specialized in the sustainable breeding and production of spiny lobsters. South Sea Exclusive will initially focus on the production of live spiny lobsters for the Asian market. A substantial part of the produced mature lobsters will be destined for a release program, whereby spiny lobsters are released back into marine protected areas, to sustain the wild population of spiny lobsters. At this moment, the company is involved in the planting of mangroves, that will offer a safe environment to the released lobsters.
South Sea Exclusive is an initiative of Dutch entrepreneurs Peter van der Werf, Bouke Batema and Jonah van Beijnen.
