Shell Philippines in the Community
Through the Pilipinas Shell Foundation, Inc., Shell has reached out to thousands of young individuals, involving them in motivating and challenging programs to bring out the best in them. The foundation has initiated learning programs in agricultural (Sanayan sa Kakayahang Agrikultura or SAKA), industrial (Sanayan sa Kakayahang Industriyal or SKIL), and entrepreneurial skills (Sanayan sa Kakayahang Pangangalakal or SKP). Shell supports their graduates in starting out in their own business and chosen profession.
In 2002, Shell began the Pandacan Scale Down Project as part of its commitment to health, safety, and environment.
Another venue for youth development Shell began is the National Students Art Competition or NSAC. Started in 1951, NSAC boasts of a number of national artists who have "graduated" from the established art fest.
Together with the Shell-supported athletes, Shell annually initiates free sports clinics for the youth all over the country. Future star athletes and grandmasters are personally trained by today's champions in the fields of basketball and chess.
