The Business
Product:
South Sea Exclusive focuses on the production of spiny lobster. Possible side products are Abalone and a few other high value marine species.
Proposed markets:
The current market for live spiny lobsters shows an increasing trend. Due to the growing economy in China, the demand for live spiny lobsters in the high-end restaurants keeps increasing, but supply does not cover demand. At the moment this problem occurs in most Asian countries, mostly due to overexploitation and the lack of good fishery management.
Unique Selling Proposition for the Asian market is a mix of quality, low price and speed of delivery. The Japanese market will be penetrated with sustainable certification of spiny lobster to adhere the consumer preference for food safety of natural products. Customers will be reached through a network of wholesalers.
Our competitive advantage is based on our strong network in the Philippines and a creative and ambitious management team with scientific knowledge to out compete the competitors.
The Entrepreneur & Management
My work as researcher in coastal zone management is based on the economic value of ecosystem functions of the province Palawan. My previous work for several years as financial manager of a cultural centre in Wageningen, The Netherlands has provided me with a lot of experience in financial management of a company.
Development
Palawan's villages need more job prospects for unemployed citizens. Next to creating jobs on the lobster farm, South Sea Exclusive Foundation will contribute to solving social and environmental problems. The foundation started its first efforts to create awareness amongst the local community for nature conservation through environmental education at schools.

Saviours of the Philippines
I commend you for your very enterprising lobster project in, of all places, Palawan (I have not been there yet). To think that you are still quite young who grew up and studied in a First World country. Your audacity is reminiscent of the time when the Dutch explored Africa and Indonesia. Why didn't your forefathers come here the first time?
The Dutch are really the new saviours of the Philippines! As they say, it's better late than never.
