The Business

What is your product/service?

Our Target Market: Middle-Eastern developing countries under the provision of International Aid and Humanitarian Programs, particularly in Lebanon.

Our Product/Service: Contracting firm that will implement international aid and humanitarian programs by providing end-to-end solutions (consultancy, execution and operations management). We have already identified a key client - the European Commission for Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO).

Our operational profit will be generated through:
- Profit margins on personnel manhours for our consultancy service
- Profit margins on supplied products and labor
- Technical support fees during the post-completion phase

For supply contracts, the goods will be either imported or locally purchased depending on local availibility. Our consultancy and management services will be performed by local company staff.

Moreover, the company will subcontract labor and execution work to local partners and firms, which will source necessary labor force. The skills necessary to perform our services are mainly project management, financial management and engineering skills. Any necessary execution equipment will be provided through our subcontractors.

Explain how you will sell your product/service (marketing strategy) and how you will reach your customers (distribution strategy)?

Our marketing campaign will be limited to get approval (from ECHO at first) and other International Aid Organizations thereafter, on our company's standards, procedures and capabilities. We will also market our management team credentials and international experience.

Our entire management team is comprised of MBAs from a top-tier business school (INSEAD) coupled with local knowledge of the market.

For example, our interaction wih ECHO will be through the open-bid process of ECHO as well as consultancy services during the pre-bidding stage. We have a dedicated resource for our commercial and targeting activities.

Within our scope of planned activities, we have identified three main competitors, one based in Lebanon and the other two in Turkey.

Within our home market we have identified one main competitor with a portfolio value of 1.5 million EU projects (bid success rate of 40%) currently under execution in Lebanon. The rest of the market is highly fragmented and shared among 5 to 6 other smaller players.

Our two Turkish competitors are however not competitive in the Lebanese market yet present in other Middle-Eastern countries and will compete with us once we start our geographic expansion outside Lebanon.

What makes your business different/better than your competitors (competitive advantage)?

We believe that our target cost-effective structure (strong management, low-cost workforce, standardized processes) and supplier relationship strategy will provide us with a competitive advantage.
