Friday June 3rd 2005, the Dutch minister for Development Cooperation and the CEOs of our partners, announced the prize winners of the Business in Development (BiD) Challenge at the Rabobank headquarters in Utrecht. Out of the 20 finalists, the 10 most promising plans won up to 20.000 euro each to start their business.
BiD Challenge Market
Only 10 business plans could actually win a prize, however many promising ideas existed amongst the non-winners. 80 business plans were presented at the BiD Challenge Market. The Market gave starting entrepreneurs the opportunity to present their business plans to BiD Challenge partners, investors and other interested parties.
All Dutch and 18 developing country entrepreneurs were present to present their plans. This resulted in many valuable new contacts and several fruitful partnerships between the BiD entrepreneurs and investors, NGOs and partners.
