Nuon

Nuon is Supporting partner of the BiD Challenge.

Energy is essential for economic development and the fight against poverty. Nuon wants to use its knowledge, expertise and resources in this area to stimulate sustainable development.

As an energy company Nuon keeps the engine of society ticking over. A future without energy is unimaginable, but fossil fuels are running out and climate change is on the increase, just like the worldwide need for energy. In order to be able to continue supplying energy to its customers Nuon carries out its business with an eye for the future. It is in Nuon’s own commercial interest, and in the interests of society as a whole, that Nuon strives to ensure a safe, reliable and sustainable energy supply. Always. Nuon puts sustainable development into practice in three different ways: by actively contributing towards a sustainable energy supply, by ensuring that its business is carried out responsibly and by being a company that is involved in surrounding communities. As well as its initiatives on the public front in the Netherlands Nuon is trying to help improve the energy supply in developing countries. Energy is essential for economic development and the fight against poverty. Nuon wants to use its knowledge, expertise and resources in this area to stimulate sustainable development. In partnership with Novib (Oxfam Netherlands), Nuon has signed an agreement focusing on rural electrification and small businesses in South Africa. Old shipping containers are being reused and equipped with solar panels, thereby enabling people in very remote areas to get access to energy and to start up small businesses.

As Supporting partner Nuon promotes the BiD Challenge world wide and motivates its employees to support the Challenge directly as screener and/or coach.
