FSSI
The Foundation for a Sustainable Society, Inc. (FSSI) is a non-stock, non-profit organization committed to support and promote eco-enterprise that are community-oriented, ecologically sound and economically viable.
FSSI seeks to empower marginalized communities in the Philippines through eco-enterprise development. As a resource institution, FSSI provides financial support as well as technical and business development (i.e. marketing linkages, product and technology enhancement) services to entrepreneurs and CSO's with projects related to Waste, Micro Finance, Coco-Coir, Sustainable Civil Society, Eco friendly and environmentally innovative initiatives. Some of its financial products and services are in the form of grants, loans, guarantees, developmental deposit and equity investments.
FSSI core programs are on Coconut Business Integration and Development Program (COCOBIND), Fund for Sustainable Civil Society – Start-up Eco-Enterprise Development Program (FCS-SEED), Microfinance Eco-Enterprise Program (MEEP), Sustainable Waste Management Eco-Enterprise Program (SWEEP), and the Sustainable Partnership for Eco-Enterprise Development (SPEED).
FSSI received an initial endowment fund through the Bilateral Agreement on the Reduction of the External Debt between the Philippine and Swiss governments in August 1995. The agreement allowed for the cancellation of the Philippine debt and the eventual creation of a fund equivalent to half of the debt’s face value.
Participants of the Philippine BiD Challenge that meet their profile and criteria will be exposed to FSSI.
