Rubani Africa Design Studios

The reason we decided to defy the odds and go into business this way was:

 We got extremely concerned about the rate at which crime was growing and dully associated with young people.
 The growing number of commercial sex workers some as young as 12yrs old and most the whom we either schooled with or grew in common neighborhoods. The subsequent boom in the spread of H.I.V. and increase of AIDS orphans was and still is extremely alarming.
 The number of our comrades that were and some still are involved in drug trafficking and abuse due to the escapist nature of humanity was and again is still very disturbing.
 We grew tired of our states men pointing accusing fingers at each other, the society complaining, and us blaming the society and the leaders.

Our Vision;
Is to create a better Africa for Africa by African youth, through being the change agents to the changes we want to see. We look to achieve a better perception towards Africa by those that have in the past called us backward, primitive, poor and or incapable.

Our mission;
Is to empower young minds with the knowledge that they can be what they dream to be and that they can get where they want to go without involving themselves in crime, Drug abuse, immorality and violence.

Our project and projection;
‘Kumbuka Nairobi’ is a book done by young people between the ages of 15-23yrs of age. These youngsters were sort and carefully picked by the Rubani Team on a basis of talent and ambition. Most of this young people come from really challenged backgrounds. Two of this young people are real street dwellers i.e. they sleep, eat, and live on the streets. This being the first of many projects tested the waters for us and made us realize that there are more children of fate than we could ever imagine and that fate unlike destiny can be determined.
In this project, the young people involved received fees for their work and are going to continue receiving a certain percentage from the sales of this book.
Our projection is to utilize the existing potential, talent and strength of disadvantaged African youth and channel it towards productivity for their good and the good of the society around them. We also look to incorporate the young people who are privileged but who choose to look at the disadvantaged not as a burden that they should be ridded of, but as an opportunity to help and share their lucky realm.

Our difference;
The difference between Rubani Africa and other organizations of our nature is unlike most who come from out and bring in solutions; we are in looking out to and for the solutions. This is because we are young people who instead of being part of the problem have decided to look for the solution hence being part of the solution. Moreover we are not looking for aid but for an empowerment to harness creativity and become a self sustainable social entrepreneurship.
