From streetart to all round business
Nação started as a graffiti crew in 1999 and now is growing into an all round design agency which also runs the first graffiti gallery of Rio de Janeiro and builds towards sectors of graffiti, design and multimedia educational programs in the most poor and violent areas of Rio de Janeiro.

The Business
Nação originated as a graffiti crew. Now the collective has the ambition to become an all round income generating organization with several pillars of business and education.
The allround business consists of the following pillars:
1. Design Agency
2. Art Gallery
3. Cultural/ Educational Centre
4. Merchandizing
Divided in the different pillars, Nação contributes to the following needs of customers of all kinds:
Graphic design, art, merchandizing and workshops/ trainings for social or commercial purpose.
Graphic design and related products are digitally produced.
The product is a combination of a particular creative process of the individual in combination with a powerful computer equipped with the right software and a certain amount of technical and artisitic knowledge.
Products related will be produced in our own space or with partner businesses.
Workshops are given in person, using existing materials such as paint, pencils, paper.
Through national and international advertising, online marketing and through the existing network of Caramundo, we will reach companies and individuals in need of publicity products or the design of a scenarios for theatre, cinema or television.
Caramundo will lobby for Nação in Europe through presenations, exchanges and programs in Dutch or European companies and fundraising activities for their educational programs.
Creative companies, artists, musicians, cultural institutes, theatres, production companies, and businesses with a certain amount of socio- educational responsibility.
Inidividuals, clothing brands, art galleries, musea, clubs, shops, bars and any other company, institute or independent freelancer in need of publicity or illustrative decoration.
Established, design agencies, freelance designers graffiti writers, scenario designers. Graduated artists and skilled idividuals.
Instead of seeing those as competitors, we will create partnerships to enable them to use our youths to work on freelance base for their agencies or companies, do traineeships and exchange knowledge and experiences.
Nação originated from the urge to create, educate and share. The social background, the self taught techniques, the colourful, unbound and rough streetish style and point of view makes Nação attractive.
The combination of learning, teaching and earning, identifying talents and connecting them to the market is innovating. Nação covers the gap between youth unemployment and the lack of skilled youth to work in the commercial and creative industry.
Nação is innovative as it doens't follow any standards of the creative and artistic industry which makes it attractive for advertisment and access to a new target group.
By teaching deprived youth and identifying extraordinary talents, innovating ideas, different styles and points of views and a up to date information about what's hot and what not between youth at risk, makes the business attractive for companies that have no access to such target groups. The Entrepreneur & Management
For Nação I have always had a coaching and assisting function.
I am a good leader without dominating. I can put ideas into action and make dreams become reality.
I am a good and convincing networker which in this case is a necessity as to be able to expand Nação outside of Brazil.
Development
Nação will provide income to the 6 core members and external financial adminstrator and juridical advisor in the first year.
In the second year at least 25 skilled people who participated in courses will be employed through the Nação collective as peer educators in the social programs or as assistants in the studio and graphic assignments. In total at least 31 people will work with Nação.
In the first year Nação will be producing clothing and will provide jobs directly to 20 female manufacturing emloyees of the women's cooperative, direct partner of Nação and assisted by Caramundo as well. For the distribution of the clothing 2 persons are needed for sales and logistics on a national level and 1 export coordinator - this in the 2nd year.
In the gallery Nação needs at lest one fulltime curator.
This is a total of 53 people that will be inserted directly and indirectly in the business of Nação.
In the first place, all youth participating in Nação's educational programs, will be inspired to focus on their future as independent professionals.
The business will provide a better life quality for all members and family of the members of Nação as well as all women producing clothing gaining a respectable income.

Excellent socially responsive business
Art is an excellent therapy for the youth, a catalyst for social development in a chaotic world. Besides keeping them away from drugs, it can give them a source of livelihood -- a lifelong career.
