2Connect
Careers & Companies
The recruitment market in Uganda is highly underdeveloped in a professional capacity. This makes it especially difficult for employers to acquire qualified staff, and for local jobseekers to find work as there are often no agencies to support them in their search.
In order to bridge the wide gap between local job seekers and staff-seeking businesses in Uganda I’m going to start up a recruitment agency. The name of this organisation is 2Connect and it will connect careers of Ugandan potentials with vacancies at international companies. Turnover is generated by placing candidates.
Supporting services of 2Connect will be:
· A vast recruitment database
· Profound screening of job-seekers.
· Career fairs and job events.
By hiring local personnel, less international staff is needed and the local labour market is used to its maximum capacity. This plan focusses on the Ugandan people and how to contribute to their own development. The ability to work implies the ability to build a life, to create self-esteem and a will to go forward.
The Business
I will start up a recruitment agency in Kampala, Uganda, in order to bridge the wide gap between local job-seekers and international organisations. Job-seekers pay a small fee to enroll in the database and companies pay a monthly salary for each placement.
Customers are INGOs and international commercial companies from the sectors tourism, telecom, ICT and finance. Using 2Connect to recruit people will save a lot of time and employers can count on professional support.
Job-seekers are educated candidates (senior secondary vocational education +) with one or more years experience. They must be ambitious and motivated in order to enrol in the database.
