Your project has an investor, so what you need to know before to work with him?.

One single day you'll receive a call from an investor interested in you project ‚--this one not necessarily comes from the BID Network--, and you feels inside of your heart, finally I did it! But when you go to the meeting you'll receive a really big document where the investor offers to help you, but if you accept that help, you need to make some "changes‚" to your project, so what to do in that situation?

Here I write some tips to take in care if you'll be in that situation:

  • Negotiation. Remember, every single thing in the world is negotiable. So, you just need to be clear in what can be and cannot will be negotiable in your project, if you think in that way from the very first day, for sure you could responce to the investor in the right way.
  • The lawyer. The world is full of lawyers, and your investor for sure have a really good ones, so, if you receive a work proposal from an investor, this one for sure was readed for a lawyer before you. Then, you need to do the same, and work with a lawyer of your confidence, remember there's out you can find many terms and contractual terms that you can't understand if you didn't have the professional helps.
  • Learn to say NO. For sure this is one of the hardest lessons in the life of the human kind, specially of the ones who need to be helped in a project, but one of the things to learn when you work closely with an investor is just to say no, because the investor wants to help you, but he didn't knows in deeper about the project as you know, so probably his comments or suggestions about your work, must be considered but not necessarily executed, and just saying NO to him, he knows and thinks in you as a secure person about this project.
  • Be careful with the shares & options in your project. You need money and the investor knows that, but be carefully with the amount of shares you'd decide to give the investor in change of the money for your project, remember, the only way you continue working as the leader/owner of your project is having the major number of shares and options about it.

Finally the best thing you could do before to have an interview with a possible investor is get help from people of BID Network in your country, they could be help you to work in the right way your negotiation, and for sure they knows how to manage this kind of situations.
