He is the general Secretary of the Union Wafakay (a team that consists of 5 other members) and also the president of the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Dosso. What specifically makes you and (if relevant) your management team most qualified to build this business?

The Union is under obligation to provide services to its members in order to satisfy their needs and improve their living conditions. Therefore, sufficient financial resources are necessary. The main motivation stems from the goal of income diversification in order to increase the financial autonomy for the implementation of the Union’s projects. This initiative will valorize the Union and its activities and create employment and income around the value chain.

How much time do/will you expect to spend per week in the business?

we expect to spend 25 hours per week

Development

How does your business improve the local living standards (social and environmental)?

The business will create local employment opportunities for 12 people, of which 8 are women and 4 are men. It constitutes a source of permanent and complementary income for the processing women: 6% per year and 20% of the income of the other employees (sales team).
At the end of the third year, dividend will be distributed to the different cooperatives which will then be used for collective investments such as agricultural inputs. Better access to basic social services through social and joint initiatives will be observed, such as primary healthcare, primary education, nutrition and hygiene. Women’s chores will be alleviated through the husking service available through the Union in 2011.
