What is your product/service?

Agriculture, Processing and Equipment as tools for Ecosystem Management = structuring ecological and social environment resulting in synergetic life circumstances (Ecosystem Services).

What customer need/problem do your products/services satisfy?

- Subnutrition of local people
- Selfsufficiency of Angolan food sector
- Biogas for local needs
- Ethanol for EU blending obligation of 5% in 2010/10% in 2020
- local agriculture/ecosystem improvement

How will you make the product/service?

Newest scientific views and technology on agriculture and processing and in close cooperation with local cooperatives and producer groups supported by a vast network both in Holland and Angola.

Explain how you will sell your product/service (marketing strategy) and how you will reach your customers (distribution strategy)?

In general demand driven projects:
Local market - distribution by cooperating companies (in network)
International market - previous agreements at commodity prices

To whom are you selling, what is your market?

Local: supermarket chain Nosso Super (28 outlets across the country)
International: Rice traders (also investing in equipment and plantmaterial) and Biofuel traders.

Describe your competitors?

1. Commodity market.
2. All food is imported in Angola, so competition is at import prices.

What makes your business different/better than your competitors (competitive advantage)?

What makes your business, your product or service innovative?

Close cooperation WUR and knowledge institutes. Some of the investors are sector experienced in other (subtropic) countries.
WUR adopted the general vision as a business case.

How will you ensure the growth of your business?

By re-investing major part of profits during the first years in supporting projects, diversifying the entrepreneurial risk. Training on the job of employees, embedding in the national social structure, exchange programs.

1. Pedro Pais, 55, economist, Angola born, experience as board member in Portuguese construction companies, living in Angola.
2. Manuel Duque, 53, former Minister of Industry Angola, Visionary on rural development, now a.o. president board World Trade Centre Luanda.
3. Leonard van Biljouw, 58, former Dutch banker, self-employed 4 yr (financing real estate projects Portugal).

What specifically makes you and (if relevant) your management team most qualified to build this business?

Besides characteristics above, being open to positive input from others and being able to cooperate.
Being an Angolan company in an international partnership, profiting of knowing both worlds.

How much time do/will you expect to spend per week in the business?

PP and LvB full time, MD 50%.

Development

How does your business improve the local living standards (social and environmental)?

The projects are executed by Ecosystem Management, monitored by WUR, Angolan knowledge and ministerial institutes, Agriterra, Solidaridad, Rabo MVO.
Expected is employment for over 15.000 people in 2015 (direct, offspin) inciting local economy flywheel, improving knowledge, contributing to alfabetism, providing nutrition, inciting exchange programs with Dutch knowledge institutes etc.
