Aqua for All is an Investment Partner of the BiD Challenge 2007. Check www.bidnetwork.org/snsanda4a

Aqua for All (A4A) is founded by the Dutch public water sector and is supported by public and private water partners to enable finances and expertise, available for water programs in developing countries.

In order to achieve the MDG’s on safe drinkingwater, access and adequate sanitation facilities for the poor in rural and peri-urban areas, it is essential to stimulate innovative new approaches with strong cooperation between public and private sector. NGO’s are as a third, mediating partner, able to reach the poor.

A4A is convinced that Business development with promising technology will contribute to solving the immense water and sanitation problems.

A4A has promoted a Protocol on Appropriate Technology:

'Successful application of promising technology on the market of the poor is only achievable if it is accessible, sustainable, of good quality, functionality according the level of the user group, manageable and fitting within the enabling environment.'

Promising BID Challenge plans on water and sanitation can count on technical and financial support in order to enable them to be realized. Together with SNS Reaal, Aqua for All can invest 150,000 euros in promising business plans in the sector of water and sanitation. Check www.bidnetwork.org/snsanda4a

Furthermore A4A supports Bid Challenge with screeners to evaluate and assess proposals on water and sanitation.

A4A is a network organisation and strongly promotes the BID Challenge as a promising initiative within her national and international network. Program partners in the Netherlands, partners in the AT@work platform and knowledge partners will be informed in order to “challenge" their Southern partners to take on the BiD Challenge.

I have some identified projects of spring here in the Philippines. Did you finance a project in order to all potential spring waters?

Clean Drinking Water

Ensuring for clean drinking water in Kenya can be a big challenge. Lack of proper and adequate sanitation adds to the problem with what is supposed to be drinking water getting contaminated with resultant water borne diseases including the diarrhoeals, typhoid, cholera etc.

Any cheap technologies for home use for people living below the poverty line.

Project OSCaR

Project OSCaR (Operation Save Calumpang River) is aimed at the rehabilitation, conservation and protection of the Calumpang River in Batangas City. The river is a catchment for river tributaries reaching as far as Laguna in the north, and Quezon Province in the East, all in the Philippines. The river opens up to the Batangas Bay.

I believe that private sector participation is an important aspect for sustainable development in any country, specifically developing ones like the Philippines.

I am optimistic that you may soon play a very important role in my vision/mission/aspiration for a micro-watershed rehabilitation thus making clean and safe water available for everybody, especially for the future generation and to be able reach out to the various sector of our society and global community as well to start this project together.

Thank you very much and I look forward to some very good support from you.
