Corporación Financiera Ambiental (CFA) is the first environmental venture capital fund to invest in small and medium-sized private enterprises that undertake environmental projects in Central America.
The capitalization of the fund, $10 million in total, was made possible by European and North American investors who promote the financing of sustainable development through venture capital.
The fund in managed from Costa Rica by Empresas Ambientales de Centroamérica, in partnership with its parent company in the United States, Environmental Enterprises Assistance Fund, an organization founded in 1990 that has a proven investment track record in environmental businesses in emerging markets.
