TNT
At TNT, we aspire to leadership. We want to attract the best people, use the best processes and deliver the best services. Our leadership in Mail, Express and Logistics means delivering superior service to customers and outstanding value to shareholders. But we believe real leadership goes beyond our own business. In today’s world, true industry leadership must include social leadership.
An important element of our effort to attain a position of social leadership is the approach we’re taking towards corporate sustainability. We strive to manage our business with respect for the environment and the communities in which we operate. We're trying to do all we can to preserve and improve the world for future generations.
In 2002 we took some important steps to support our social leadership ambitions. A company-wide working group set forth our ambitions and rolled out the necessary policies. We adopted a Corporate Sustainability Policy. We signed the United Nations Global Compact, which deals with human rights, labour rights and environmental protection. We inaugurated an annual competition to recognise outstanding contributions to sustainability within the company. We began preparations for reporting on sustainability according to the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative as far as relevant for our company and industry.
At the end of last year we launched our innovative partnership with the United Nations’ World Food Programme (WFP). We’re putting TNT’s resources to work to help solve the world’s most profound logistics problem: getting food to where it’s most needed. The partnership should bring real benefits to WFP and ultimately to the hungry people of the world. It’s another way in which we’re demonstrating our commitment to put people at the heart of our company.
