BID NETWORK PROFILE
ROLF GROOTEN.

Dear All with an interest in Croatia,

Having spent some years on relief and reconstruction activities in Croatia and Bosnia, I still have a special feeling for Croatia.
During my last visit in December 2004, I had a vision, a kind of awake-dream, wherein support for the returning refugees was combined with sustainable development of economic stimulation and ecological awareness.
The idea for an Ecovillage was born.

Today, after studying a lot on the various aspects of Eco-villages, the time is ripe to transform this vision into reality. Contacts with a few dedicated people from Croatia and elsewhere have confirmed the feasibility of the project. The year 2008 should see the first activities.

To give an impression, please see the attachment with the title: Village Doc. 1.

This Project is an ambitious one, I cannot help that. The advantage is that many people can cooperate to find satisfaction in supporting the project and creating sustainable jobs for others.

(Is it Coincidence or Synchronicity? My radio plays: Come on, come on, let’s work together……..
Make some happy, make someone smile, together we will stand, every boy, every woman and man, lets work together……….)

You have the feeling that you should do something, not only on the still towering problem of re-establishing a decent way of living for returnees, but in the same time re-installing small scale socio-economic initiatives with respect for Nature and People? Please contact me and we will see where we can cooperate.

PROFILE.
Who is this, who thinks it is possible?

My name is Rolf Grooten, born in Holland, 63 years ago.
Having fulfilled many functions (policeman, salesman, service manager, importer/exporter, project manager in real estate in Prague and project manager in Sustainable development in Bosnia and Croatia) and having lived in different countries (Holland, Belgium, France, Czech, India) I have collected a few experiences.
These experiences have taught me some essential values. These Values are Universal, and in sharing these values I find my joy and pleasure.

The leading motive in my life, and my major passion, is my quest to understand the driving forces of man.
Already as a very young man I was perplexed at the inability of people to simply be happy. This has led me through the study of psychology and psychotherapy, and ultimately to the study of religious and spiritual history of this world.

Quite early I developed the vision, that working, learning and enjoying life can be, and should be, integrated in this great party that is called life, and I have been a lucky man to be able to put this vision into working practise of my daily life.

Now, after some coming of age, I find my greatest joy in sharing the treasures, which I collected during my rich and fulfilling life.
This joy is so marvellously expressed by the Persian poet Djallaladin Rumi, (if you permit me to quote):

Find the real world, give it endlessly away
Grow rich, fling to all who ask
Live at the empty heart of the paradox
I’ll dance with you there, cheek to cheek.

Although born as a businessman, today I believe that, if there is a future, the future of mankind is based on sharing and caring, not on taking or giving.
Therefore, all Economic Activity shall be conditioned on responsibility for the social, ecological and even cultural consequences.

WELCOME TO THE FUTURE!
