I studied Energy Engineering with a specialisation in energypolicy at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, and completed my thesis with ECN-Energy Policy Studies focusing on energy conservation in developing countries.
After graduation, I worked for 4 years as a consultant, both with ETC Foundation in the Netherlands and in Tanzania. Our main work focused on rural energy projects in developing countries and climate change projects in the field of Joint Implementation and the Clean Development Mechanism.
From 1998 to 2005 I worked with Free Energy Europe BV as director, where our work focused primarily on the development of commercial markets for small solar home systems in developing countries.
In 2005, I re-joined ETC Energy, now working on the EASE project, enabling energy access for the poor in Bolivia, Bietnam and Tanzania. Also I have a private company Solar Orange BV where I am working to launch and support innovative business approaches for energy access in the third world.
