The objective of Inka Moss is the sustainable and environmentally-friendly exploitation of sphagnum moss. Moss is an organic substrate that allows the development of certain vegetable species, particularly those that demand a high level of humidity. It is used mainly in orchid farming, due to its moisture retention and antibacterial properties. In Peru, moss grows naturally in humid areas of the Andes. The favorable climate conditions also allow for the cultivation of high quality fiber moss, which gives Inka Moss a competitive advantage in the international market. Furthermore, the market for moss is under constant growth, and new uses are being investigated in the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. The company will generate a cluster of moss farming in the area of Junin, which in the long term will create employment and raise living standards for 4,800 low-income families.
