- BiD Challenge Argentina 2011 awarded businesses committed to create value and sustainable development on November 15. Congratulations to the 25 finalists and 3 winners. Well done again to our partner FUNDES for the organisation of this fifth edition of BiD Challenge Argentina
- Fundación E, our partner in Mexico, celebrated their 12th Anniversary on November 25, 2011. The growth of the Mexican economy is stemming from organisations like Fundación E. We are proud to be your partner! Again, congratulations!
- Save the date! JCI Rwanda and BiD Network will organise the next Growing SMEs Event in Kigali, Rwanda, on March 22-23 2012. Growing SMEs is a premium international conference for Small and Medium Enterprises in emerging markets and all stakeholders involved in their development, growth and finance. Women in Business Challenge
The deadline is fast approaching to submit applications for the coaching services of Women in Business Challenge 2011-2012. This business plan competition is open for emerging market women entrepreneurs that want to start or accelerate the growth of their company. 70 BiD Network coaches have
joined and are ready to help entrepreneurs go through the second stage of this competition, write and finalise their business plan. Apply before December 30!
The deadline for BiD Challenge Ecuador is December 26 and December 31 for Women Business Competition Palestine.

BiD Network entrepreneurs spotlighted in the media.
- Peter Meijer was featured on Dutch TV programmes Wereldzaken and Kanjers Van Goud for Sakaramenta, a social business based in Malawi producing push and bicyle carts. Thierry Sanders, Founder and Co-Director of BiD Network Foundation, Frans van den Boom, NCDO Director, and Bea Haring of Ernst & Young were interviewed on their common entrepreneurial programs.
- Barefoot Power is a social for-profit enterprise which manufactures and distributes lighting products, solar phone charging and business development services for low income populations. They won BiD Challenge 2006 and they have just been backed by Ennovent investment.
- Alex Eaton, winner of the 1st prize of BiD Network Awards at Growing SMEs 2010, won the 2nd prize & 15M pesos for Sistema Biobolsa at Iniciativa México 2011.
- Congratulations to Againe Sharon for the 2nd prize of Orange African Social Venture. She was one of the five finalists of Women in Business 2012 for AgaSha, an online community platform.
- Rats, vermin? Think again! Apopo Hero Rats train rats to sniff out unexploded landmines & disease. Glad to read updates about one of our successful entrepreneurs on TakePart and GOOD.
