#WIBChat | A Summary – Access to Finance for Women Entrepreneurs

March 19, 2013, saw the final in the series of #WIBChat’s, hosted by BiD Network as part of the Women in Business Challenge 2013. It’s been a productive series of chats, covering everything from the impact of women owned businesses to the value of networking and the importance of access to finance for women entrepreneurs.

We hope the conversations have illuminated the problems and barriers faced by women entrepreneurs in emerging markets, when attempting to start or grow their business, as well as provided advice and innovative solutions.

The last #WIBChat invited industry specialists Value for Women, the IFC’s SME Finance ForumFundación Capital and BiD Network entrepreneur Hellen Wandaka of Medilink Labs to convene and discuss access to finance for women entrepreneurs. One of the most significant barriers women face when doing business is accessing finance, our panelists used their knowledge, insight and experience to provide solutions and advice for entrepreneurs and experts.

To provide some background information on the topic, we advised prospective participants to look at the initial results of a research partnership BiD Network has engaged in with Value for Women. The first results produced an infographic looking at Underinvestment in Women.
