Banco Internacional de Investimentos (www.bancoii.com) is funding a new Foudation to help learning to read children in Africa.

Banco Internacional de Investimentos (www.bancoii.com), o Bancoii, is helping children in Africa to learn to read through a new Foundation.

Bancoii seek to follow the Equator Principles of sustainable banking. Adopted in June 2003 by ten international commercial banks, the Equator Principles are a voluntary set of guidelines for managing environmental and social issues in project finance lending - initially applying to investments with capital costs above US$ 50 million.

Based on IFC's environmental and social standards, the Principles were developed with IFC's advice and guidance. As of June 2006, 41 banks had adopted the Principles, and it is estimated that they now cover approximately 80 percent of global project lending.

Bancoii seeks to invest in companies and projects that contribute to, benefit from and best adapt to the shift to an environmentally sustainable and socially responsible global economy. They work in some of the industries of the future, and often they provide solutions to sustainability problems and challenges. We believe that they can create positive long-term investment opportunities and we continually look for investment opportunities in such industries, which are grouped into the main themes described below. Banco Internacional de Investimentos (www.bancoii.com) is also investing in projects for children, as this new foundation for helping them to read. For more information, please contact www.bancoii.com.
