What kind of photos are we looking for?

BiD Network promotes the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises in developing countries as a vehicle for sustainable economic growth and development. In this Photo Contest we want to focus on entrepreneurs around the world who are working for innovative changes towards sustainable economic growth in developing countries.

Use your own imagination when taking and submitting photos. We are looking for pictures that have an interesting and creative composition. People as well as the work environment/product should appear clearly. Images can include ideas, technology and practices from all sectors of the economy, but must be focused on a developing country.

What will happen to the winning pictures?

The winning photos will be announced in mid-May and receive prize money. Prize money will be divided into 3 categories: 1st prize (€200), 2nd prize (€100) and 3rd prize (€50). Winning photos will be featured in several productions (like flyers, folders and posters) that will be released and distributed in 2008.

Who can enter?

The contest is open to registered members of www.bidnetwork.org only.

When is the deadline for entries?

The deadline for entries is April 30th 2008.

What are the rules for entry?

1. Entries must be received by April 30th 2008.
2. Entries should reflect the theme of "Entrepreneurship for Development"
3. You may submit as many pictures as you want.
4. The size of the picture(s) should be at least 1819 x 2598 pixels (154 x 220mm horizontal at 300 dpi resolution), and must be supplied in PNG or JPEG format.
5. By entering the contest, you give BiD Network Foundation the right to publish your photo in our productions.
6. We reserve the right to crop the images as we see fit.
7. Entries must be your own work.
8. Entries should not have been published elsewhere.
9. No responsibility is taken for ineligible entries or entries made fraudulently.
10. By entering this competition you are accepting these rules and agree to be bound by them.

How does it work?

You can submit your photos to the competition by simply uploading your image on www.bidnetwork.org. To do so, you must be registered as a member of bidnetwork.org first. Follow the steps below to upload your photo.

1. If you are already a registered member: (If not, go to 2.)

• Make sure your personal profile contains the following information:
  • your name
  • your country
  • your e-mail
  • your postal address
  • your telephone number
  • your age
  • your gender

You can add information to your profile by clicking on your name in the menu on the top left of this page and then by clicking on "edit this page".

• If the above information is complete then click on the link below to upload your photo. When uploading your image, you will see three boxes with title, subtitle and introduction. Use the "title" box to add a title to your image. Use the "introduction" box to add a short caption (up to 3 sentences) to the photo that describes the image (what, where, when), and the place and country the photo was taken. When you upload your photo, it will be automatically linked to your personal profile.

2. If you are not registered yet:

• Register on www.bidnetwork.org and make sure to fill in the following information:
  • your name

• After you have registered, go back to this page and click on the link below to upload your photo. When uploading your image, you will see three boxes with title, subtitle and introduction.
