NEST with its leading edge expertise in solar PV technology is focusing on worldwide commercial marketing of solar lamps and engaging in developments related with silicon feedstock.

Current Activities:

• Manufacturing of solar photovoltaic panels using poly/mono silicon solar cells (in our unique manufacturing facility in Bangalore)
• Assembly of Solar Lighting Systems such as solar lanterns, solar home lighting systems, solar street lighting systems
• Supply of high purity silica quartz to Japan (a contract for supply of 1 million tons over period of 10 years- $190 million contract)

• MNES Approval for Model II solar lantern
• Module Infrastructure Approval from MNES
• ASHDEN LIGHT AWARD 2005 (Green Oscar)
Mr.D.T.Barki received the award in London from Prince Charles on 29-30 June 2005. The award carried a citation, certificate and cash award of 30,000 £

Project Expansion Plans:

• Up-gradation of solar module line to manufacture higher capacity modules for exports Manufacturing Line for solar cells (Sep 2007)
• Manufacturing Line for solar cells (Dec 2008)
• Joint Venture between NEST and M.SETEK Japan for setting up of metallurgical grade silicon in Andhra Pradesh, India (Latest by March 2009)
• Finalization of contract with Elkem Solar, Norway for supply of high purity quartz (Sep 2007)
• To establish a foundation to address the ultimate mission of NEST of providing low-cost solar lamps to remote rural households to replace unsafe kerosene lamps world over (2011)
