Peter Meijer

My name is Peter Meijer I live in Amsterdam the capital of the Netherlands. I studied Social Economics and specialised in the subject 'first mover advantage'. I examined what kind of advantages companies can achieve when they enter a niche market as the first player. After my study I travelled for one year in Asia. Back in Holland I worked two years for ABN AMRO Bank at the Strategy and Development department of Human Resources. I decided that I liked to work for myself and became a freelance cosultant in Organisational Development in the Health Care Sector. After finishing a project about privatisation in the health care, I traveled for half a year through Southern Afrca. During my travelling period in Malawi I got the idea of producing and selling bicycle carts in Malawi. I became completely enthousiast and started to write my ideas down, to visit different factories, to wonder why they didn't use bicycle carts yet while there are that many bicycles, to brainstorm about the idea with everybody I talked to and to do marketresearch. This resulted in competing in the bidchallenge. Hopefully I will become the first mover on the bicycle cart market in Malawi.
